Meet the Core Needs of Modern Pipe Manufacturing
For steel pipe manufacturers, material performance directly determines production efficiency and long-term safety. In high-pressure transmission, offshore engineering, and extreme environment projects, high strength, low-temperature toughness, and weldability are non-negotiable. Subpar materials may cause welding defects, increased rework, or even service failures-exactly what TMCP steel plates are engineered to eliminate.
The Science Behind TMCP Technology
Thermo-Mechanical Control Processing (TMCP) redefines steel production by integrating controlled rolling and accelerated cooling, eliminating the need for post-production heat treatment:
Precise Rolling
Conducted at 800-1000°C to refine austenite grains, with deformation parameters adjusted by thickness (5-30% reduction per pass).
Accelerated Cooling
Post-rolling cooling at 10-50°C/s locks in a fine-grained ferrite-bainite structure, ensuring uniform performance across the plate.

This process delivers a rare balance of strength and toughness, while cutting energy use compared to traditional heat-treated steel.
Proven Performance: Data Backed by Standards
Our TMCP steel plates are engineered to meet API 5L, DNV-OS-F101, and EN 10216 standards, with performance varying by thickness for precise application matching:

Field-Proven Applications

Transcontinental Pipelines
200,000+ tons supplied for the Central Asia-China gas pipeline (operating pressure 10MPa). Compliant with API 5L X70, it reduces welding seams by 25% due to 4.8m width options.

Offshore Pipelines
Deployed in the North Sea's 300m water depth dynamic lay projects (DNV-OS-F101 certified). Withstands cyclic loading (±120MPa) and marine corrosion, validated over 7 years.

Arctic Projects
Used in Siberian oil pipelines, maintaining toughness at -60°C (impact energy ≥ 160 J) with zero material-related failures in 6 years.
Welding Guidelines: Practical Tips for Manufacturers
The weldability of TMCP steel is closely linked to controlled heat input:
Recommended Heat Input Range
5-35kJ/cm. This is critical for ensuring the toughness of the heat-affected zone (HAZ). If the heat input exceeds 35kJ/cm, it may lead to grain coarsening, resulting in a 30% or more reduction in impact strength.
Preheating Requirements
Preheating is not necessary for plates with a thickness of ≤25mm when the ambient temperature is ≥5°C. For thicker plates, preheating to 80-120°C is recommended to prevent hydrogen-induced cracking.
