[Features]
The steel strand is a steel product composed of multiple steel wires. The surface of the carbon steel can be added with a galvanized layer, a zinc-aluminum alloy layer, an aluminum clad layer (aluminum clad), a copper layer, and an epoxy coating as required. Resin (epoxycoated), etc.
[Classification]
The most commonly used steel strands are galvanized steel strands and prestressed steel strands. The diameter of commonly used prestressed steel strands is in the range of 9.53mm-17.8mm, and there are a small number of thicker diameter steel strands. There are generally 7 steel wires in each prestressed steel strand, and there are also 2, 3 and 19 steel wires. The steel wires can have metal or non-metallic anti-corrosion layers. The coated HDPE coated with anti-corrosion grease or paraffin is called unbonded prestressed steel strand
[Manufacturing method]
The manufacturing process is divided into monofilament manufacturing and stranded wire manufacturing. (Cold) wire drawing technology is used when making monofilament. According to different materials of the product, it can be high carbon steel wire rod, stainless steel wire rod or medium and low carbon steel. Wire rod, if galvanized, shall be electroplated or hot-dipped on the monofilament. In the strand manufacturing process, a stranding machine is used to strand multiple steel wires into a product. The prestressed steel strand also needs to be continuously stabilized after forming. The final product is generally collected on an I-shaped wheel or completed by a shaftless coil.
