EU Commodity Bar And Hot-dip Galvanized Import Quotas Are Running Out Fast

In the first few days of the second quarter of 2023, EU import quotas for commodity bar and hot-dip galvanized steel from certain countries are being filled rapidly.
In particular, China's second-quarter quota for commercial bar steel has been fully used up. Quotas for Turkish commodity bar are also filling up quickly. As of April 7, it used 16%. Metal Expert has been informed that a maximum of 4% of the quota for rebar and wire rod has been used up.
Among hot-dip galvanized suppliers, the most active sellers are from South Korea, India and China. The 4A hot-dip galvanizing quota from India reached 100%, and that from South Korea reached 26%. China has used up 27% of its quota for 4B automotive grade hot-dip galvanizing.
The situation is very similar to that in the first quarter of 2023, but in the previous quarter, the quotas for rebar, hot rolled coil and cold rolled coil were used at a faster rate.
