China's Steel Exports Increase

According to data from the General Administration of Customs on May 9, China exported 7.932 million tons of steel in April 2023, an increase of 42,000 tons from the previous month, and a month-on-month increase of 0.5%; the cumulative export of steel from January to April was 28.014 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 55.0%.
In April, China imported 585,000 tons of steel, a decrease of 97,000 tons from the previous month, a month-on-month decrease of 14.2%; from January to April, China imported 2.498 million tons of steel, a year-on-year decrease of 40.1%.
In April, China imported 90.442 million tons of iron ore and its concentrate, a decrease of 9.787 million tons from the previous month, and a month-on-month decrease of 9.8%. From January to April, China imported 384.684 million tons of iron ore and its concentrate, an increase of 8.6% year-on-year.
In April, China imported 40.676 million tons of coal and lignite, a decrease of 489,000 tons from the previous month, and a month-on-month decrease of 1.2%. From January to April, China imported 142.476 million tons of coal and lignite, an increase of 88.8% year-on-year.
