Chichester Metals, a subsidiary of Australia's Fortescue Metals Group (FMG), had sought permission from regulators to establish a new iron ore mine 80 kilometers northwest of Newman, Western Australia. The mining area was the Nyidinghu Mine, with a development area of around 92,301 hectares and an estimated worth of approximately US$2 billion. It was projected to generate around 40 million tons of iron ore per year over the next 26 years, with the first batch of ore due in 2028.
Furthermore, Pilbara Infrastructure, an autonomous subsidiary of FMG, has presented to Western Australian authorities a plan for the East Hamersley Railway Project, which included transportation, power, and water supply pipeline infrastructure.
