Indonesia Discovers Unauthorized Shipping Of Nickel Ore To China

Beginning in early 2020, the Indonesian authorities are looking into unauthorized shipments of nickel ore to China. The approximate value of the entire shipment was 14.5 trillion rupiah.

Recent data from Indonesia's Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) revealed that between January 2020 to June 2022, over 5.3 million tons of nickel ore from Indonesia were unlawfully shipped to China.

Since January 2020, Indonesia has prohibited the export of nickel ore or unprocessed nickel. Experts and business organizations in Indonesia have asked the government to take action to prevent unlawful operations.
